“physiology and anatomy”
I don’t really understand what you mean by his anatomy and phys. It will be very hard to describe the specific characteristics of a person “physiology and anatomy”. I can see how you can easily talk about diet, nutrition & achievements of a person, but physiology and anatomy will involve talking about the nature of the person’s body systems, cells to molecules which are very complicated info to obtain. You can talk about his weight, height and physical apparent, thats a general anatomy.

Question by Brian Davis: Athlete, football, p90x, overall fitness help?
Hey, i’m a 16 year old male who is going to be an upcoming junior. I plan to start doing P90x around the start of football season. I am in pretty good shape already and do work out.

Yes i understand P90x is a tough workout program and takes ALOT of commitment. But i plan on doing it and missing no days. Would it be a good idea to start this during football season? Right now it’s june, so i’m just taking time to relax until we hit the weights again in july. And i have my own stack set up and will be getting all the stuff i need sometime soon. Is there anything i should change about it, and how do you personally think this would affect the results and effectiveness of my workouts?
And how do you think it’d help with football?

Dont do p90x for football stuff bro… You need to just kill power lifts like squat bench and clean… p90x is more for body building and getting cut.. It wont help you as a football player near as much as lifting free weights..

Perfect match!! I’m impressed!

For what it’s worth, Your weight max means nothing to me. What’s meaningful is good clean sets of 8-10 reps, with the last 3 being a solid struggle. 1-3 reps of overly heavy weight doesn’t build power. You need power on the field that last more then 5 seconds. Your 40 time is great.

You also don’t need all those supplements. What you need to do it follow the nutrican program. You can substitute any “P90x” branded supplements for your own. (esp since they are usually very over-priced)

Good luck, and have a great season.

Edit: I don’t recommend Creatine for athletes. You dehydrate too quickly.

Sports Supplement Manufacturing Trends

Apart from serious bodybuilders, professional sportsmen and trainers which comprise 23 percent of the shoppers of sports nutrition products, 55 percent of the American population use sports nutrition products to maintain general fitness, according to Datamonitor (a global business provider of information and market analysis).1 Consumer interest in sports nutrition is surging, forcing sports nutrition manufacturers to shift their attention from Mr. Universe to Mr. Average Joe who uses sports nutrition to help him achieve his goals for health and longevity. Mainstream fitness enthusiasts and gym-goers are the biggest target market led by people who want to lead active lifestyles, eat healthy and augment their diets with sports nutrition supplements. There is so much more to sports nutrition these days than building muscle and stamina.Who’s using sports nutrition supplements? In the United States, the sports nutrition and weight loss category is one of the fastest-growing segments with a reported growth of 7.6 percent to .7 billion in sales for 2008.2 Datamonitor forecasts sports nutrition sales to grow to .5 billion by 2013. The 2009 Health & Wellness Trends Database from the Natural Marketing Institute, a market research company based in Pennsylvania, reported 22 percent of the consumers surveyed said they used sports nutrition products (amino acids, protein powders, hydration drinks, creatine and other sports nutrition supplements).3 Who’s using these products? There’s a long list of interested consumers which could include soccer moms, business professionals, baby boomers, morning joggers/bikers, those who pursue sports as a hobby, women who balance a career and home, weight conscious consumers, young moms, teenagers, professional sportsmen, trainers and more! Are your sports nutrition supplements based on reliable science?Sports nutrition science has played a key role in influencing product development and escalating the growth of the sports nutrition market. Research studies and recommendations from experts suggest that nutrient-based supplements may not only help improve stamina and athletic performance through muscle building, but also support a host of healthy functions that optimize physical and mental performance.Using the preponderance of evidence derived from science to formulate their products, sports nutrition manufacturers have been producing a wide array of sports supplements over the past decade to meet the ever-growing needs of consumers,. Each consumer group is different and tailoring a product to meet consumer-specific needs must consider key factors such as performance, age group, health benefits, innovation and ingredients. Here is a list of top ingredients you may want to consider to produce high-quality sports nutrition supplements.Protein: Well-documented studies show that adequate protein intake, particularly post workout, is needed for muscle recovery.5 Protein aids quick recovery by reducing sore muscles after exercise, promoting synthesis of glycogen and increasing muscle mass and strength. Protein also helps promote satiety and enhances energy production in the body.Because whey protein has high bioavailability and an amino acid profile which is more suited to sports recovery, it is one of the most popular forms of proteins used in manufacturing sports nutrition supplements. Hydrolyzed whey protein plays a more functional role in the production of glycogen. (Glycogen is known to assist muscle growth by increasing protein synthesis and decreasing protein breakdown.) A recent innovation in protein manufacturing is the development of clear whey protein isolates which, along with other essential nutrients, can be used in manufacturing energy drinks and beverages.Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is also popularly used for building lean muscle mass.Creatine, a natural substance found in muscles, is known to enhance lean muscle mass, increase muscle strength and improve recovery time from a muscle injury.L-Carnitine: About 95 percent of L-carnitine resides in skeletal muscle. Studies show the remaining 5 percent may play a significant role in post-workout recovery, promoting vascular health, decreasing muscle damage due to exercise, in addition to its potential functions as an antioxidant and a fat oxidizer.Eggshell Membrane: Natural Eggshell Membrane (NEM®) is a patented ingredient derived from egg membranes. It contains nutrients such as glycosaminoglycans, chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, collagen and other proteins that help to support healthy joints.Astaxanthin is abundantly found in small, shrimp-like fish called Krill. It’s an antioxidant that supports healthy joints and tendons, decreases recovery time post workout, improves endurance and protects the skin against UV damage and is therefore particularly useful for those engaged in outdoor sports or training.Branched-chain Amino Acids (BCAAs): About 35 percent of amino acids found in muscles are BCAAs. They help improve both aerobic and anaerobic performance by decreasing the production of lactate, a substance the body creates in response to strenuous exercise. High levels of lactate are associated with painful muscles.Phosphatidylserine is known to support cognitive health improving memory and mental acuity. Research indicates that it may also help lower cortisol levels in the body. Lower cortisol levels are associated with speedy recovery and the ability to cope with exercise-induced stress.Bitter Orange (citrus aurantium) and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is believed to be a thermogenic agent, assisting the body to burn calories at a faster rate. The body produces DHEA endogenously, but levels decline by as much as 50 percent by the age of 40.Sustamine L-alanyl-L-glutamine helps to re-hydrate the body and refuel energy stores.Capsaicinoids are derived from red peppers. A study on the supplementary intake of capsaicinoids shows that it may be able to burn calories significantly and as a result support weight management.Other nutrients used in sports nutrition include:

B vitamins are vital to metabolism.Choline is essential for fat metabolism.Chromium helps regulate healthy insulin levels, increases metabolism and thereby helps burn fat more quickly.Zinc plays an important role in metabolic functions. The combination of multiple ingredients in one product not only eliminates the need for taking multiple supplements, but may also have the potential to produce a synergistic effect.Do you deliver your sports nutrition in convenient, easy-to-use systems?Effervescent powders or quick-dissolve tablets are a great on-the-go delivery system for sports nutrition supplements. All nutrients are easily ingested and absorbed by the body with very minimal, if any, gastric disturbances. Other convenient delivery systems include dissolvable stick packs, powders, chewables and gummies. Energy gels can be packed with carbohydrates, protein and other nutrients. Though new in the market, energy gels are extremely popular since they are very convenient to use and travel-friendly. Conventional systems such as tablets and capsules are still popular being cost-effective and convenient to use.Is your brand building consumer trust?Building consumer trust is a key factor to sustaining brand loyalty. Science-based formulations are important, but a breach of trust can occur at various stages of the manufacturing process. Stringent enforcement of GMP regulations is required right from acquisition of high-quality raw materials to the precision manufacturing of your formula. Quality controls and SOPs must be in place to ensure maximum preservation of all bio-active components in order to produce products that have full potential for efficacy. Trust can be guaranteed by building a partnership with suppliers and manufacturers who are GMP certified and have a proven track record for placing an emphasis on high-quality.Can your sports nutrition manufacturer exceed quality expectations? To sell specially formulated sports nutrition supplements designed to perform well and meet the ergogenic needs of your target market, you need to partner with a quality sports nutrition manufacturer, such as Nutricap Labs. All of their products are manufactured in a GMP-certified facility, which means that their products not only meet, but exceed quality standards mandated by the FDA. With the advent of a “borderless world”, cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. Spring 2011 Supplement Manufacturing Trends

sports nutrition 2011
by Ron Sombilon Gallery

Article by Kevin Agrawal

The winter season is winding down, the economy is recovering and more consumers, now more than ever, are showing a preference towards natural, nutritional and herbal products to meet their health needs. This is a great time to focus on enhancing your product line for spring 2011. Historically, the sale of certain supplements has seen greater consumer demand during these months. So, if you’re a supplement company, don’t miss out on cashing in on the latest supplement manufacturing trends this season. Here’s our take on what you can expect in spring 2011:Sports NutritionAccording to Datamonitor, sports nutrition supplement buyers can be categorized into three segments. By the end of 2010, Datamonitor had predicted each segment to reach:1

Professional athletes/performers: 8 percent of the U.S. populationPart-time performers such as trainers, etc: 15 percent of the U.S. populationActive gym members and health enthusiasts: 55 percent of the U.S. populationThe last segment holds the biggest opportunity for nutritional supplement manufacturers. Warmer weather will motivate people to dust off their bikes, running shoes and in-line skates to enjoy some outdoor sports! Of course, there are people that frequent health clubs year-round, but alongside those, are people who wait for spring to arrive before beginning their exercise regimens. A sales boost in the sports nutrition segment is more than likely and includes products such as: Pre- and post workout supplements that enhance fat loss, stamina, promote muscle building and increase post workout recovery. There are several combinations of well-researched ingredients that can be used for manufacturing pre- and post workout supplement, the most popular being protein powders. Hydrolyzed whey protein isolate is one of the highest quality proteins and offers optimum nutrition with a fast absorption rate. Taste and texture are also important features for consumers.Popular ingredients: Glutamine, amino acids, creatine, whey protein, l-arginine, dextrose.Popular delivery systems: tablets, capsules, powders, especially protein powders in a variety of flavors and in travel-friendly packaging.Energy products. Last year’s article “Spring 2010 Nutraceutical Manufacturing Trends” from Nutricap Labs, predicted a growing consumer demand for energy drinks in all age groups. Companies & Markets (a market research company based in London) reports the global energy food and drinks market was worth .4 billion in 2010 and had a compound annual growth rate of 6.8% throughout 2009-2010. This in spite of the high cost of energy drinks in a recessive economy!2-3Sports and health enthusiasts are not the only ones demanding energy drinks. The energy drink market is being increasingly led by professionals facing fatigue and work-related stress. The emphasis is on energy drinks that have added health benefits. According to a report from Canadean (a beverage market research company based in the United Kingdom), product claims like ‘juice’, ‘natural’, or ‘low /no carb’ have an effect on consumer purchases.4 Popular ingredients: Besides guarana and taurine, added health benefits through exotic herbs like ginkgo biloba, ginseng and milk thistle are commonly used in energy drink formulations. Other ingredients include L-carnitine for energy production and fat metabolism. Popular delivery systems: bars, beverages, energy shots.Diet, Weight Loss and DetoxSpring is typically the time when dieters take advantage of fresh seasonal fruits/vegetables and spring into healthy eating habits. To support their weight loss regimens, people are looking for science-supported weight loss aids that contain fat burners/blockers, appetite suppressants and energy boosters. A 2009 report from Frost & Sullivan (a business research and consulting firm with over 40 global offices) shows that consumers are becoming increasingly skeptical about products that are advertised as magic bullets for weight loss. Instead, they are more likely to purchase weight loss aids that enhance smart weight loss with ingredients that are known to be safe and have efficacy to deliver results.5 Weight loss supplements: Despite the cynicism, the market for weight loss aids continues to grow. According to a healthcare market research report by MarketsandMarkets (a global market research and consulting company based in Texas), the global weight loss market is expected to be worth 6.3 billion by 2014. The United States is by far the largest geographical segment and the market here is expected to be valued at 0 billion by 2014.6 Popular ingredients: bitter orange, chitosan, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), hoodia and green tea extract, fiber, guar gum, sodium carboxymethylcellulose and glucomannan, St. John’s wort, apple cider, licorice, dandelion, country mallow, ginseng, spirulina and more.Popular delivery systems: capsules, tablets and herbal tea powders, as well as fiber powders/shakes and liquids in a variety of flavors.Body detox. Trends show that people want to ‘spring’ clean their bodies, too, at this time of year, in order to prime systemic health. The focus is on body detox products to help remove toxins accumulated in the body due to stress, smoking, poor eating habits, pollutants in the environment, etc. Popular products: colon cleansers, liver supplements, pro- and pre-biotic combinations, as well other digestive aids.Popular delivery systems: Herbal teas, senna, milk thistle, psyllium, probioitic strains, Anti-allergen Supplements:The sniffles and sneezes become more common as the weather warms up and the air we breathe is filled with pollen. According to a 2006 National Health Survey from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), about 18 million adults and 7 million children suffer from hay fever during this time of the year. Consumer trends show that people are turning to herbal or natural supplements to combat their health needs. Popular ingredients: Vitamin C, N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), nettle, lycopene, magnesium, quercetin, glucomannan, licorice root, pinebark and butterbur extracts.Popular delivery systems: capsules, tabletsManufacture with GMP-Certified Supplement Manufacturer Are you stocked up on popular products to meet this spring’s supplement manufacturing trends?
